The Super Eagles of Nigeria have trashed the Crocodiles of Lesotho 2-1 in a match that boosts the chances of the Super Eagles' qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Nigerian Captain William Troost-Ekong converted the first goal from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, while Akor Adams netted the second courtesy of a cross from Victor Osimhen in the 80th minute, before Hlompo Kalake of Lesotho netted one for the Crocodiles in the 83rd minute.

In other Group C matches, Benin Republic beat Rwanda 1-0, while South Africa played out a 0-0 draw with Zimbabwe.

This places Benin Republic top of the group with 17 points and 5 goals, South Africa second with 15 points and 3 goals, and Nigeria third with 14 points and 3 goals.

Nigeria will have to beat Benin Republic by at least three goals when they face them on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while hoping for South Africa to lose or draw against Rwanda.
