Senator Jarigbe Boosts Power Supply in Cross River North with Six Transformers

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has facilitated the installation of six 500KVA transformers across communities in the district to improve electricity supply.

The distribution exercise was flagged off in Ikaptang community, Ogoja Local Government Area, on Thursday, September 5, 2025, where the Senator’s Constituency Officer, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, described the initiative as a major step in fulfilling Senator Jarigbe’s campaign promises, especially to rural communities long deprived of stable electricity.

Mgbantul emphasized the importance of electricity to development, noting that “access to reliable and stable electricity is not just a basic need but a powerful catalyst for economic growth, industrial development, improved healthcare, quality education, and the overall social well-being of the people.”

He assured that the project was only the beginning, saying, “The journey to restoring power supply to our communities has just begun; we are not going to stop but will continue to address the challenges of power supply faced by various communities in the Senatorial District.”

The benefiting communities include Ikaptang (Urban 1, Ogoja LGA), Adigbo-Mfom Ekajuk 1 (Ogoja LGA), Abouchiche Junction (Bekwarra LGA), Ijama/Idiku (Okpoma Ward, Yala LGA), Ekprinyi (Utukwang Central, Obudu LGA), and Ketting (Bendi 1, Obanliku LGA).

Residents of Ikaptang community, who have lived without electricity for more than 13 years, expressed gratitude to Senator Jarigbe for the intervention. They prayed for God’s blessings on him and urged him to continue his efforts in improving the lives of people across the district.
