Sen. Williams Commiserates with APC National Secretary Over Mother’s Passing

Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the mother of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, describing the loss as heartbreaking and painful.

In a condolence message made available to journalists, Senator Williams said he received the news of the demise of Dr. Basiru’s mother with “a very heavy heart and a profound sense of shock.”

The lawmaker noted that the death of a mother remains one of life’s most painful experiences, irrespective of age, stressing that no words can adequately soothe the grief that accompanies such an irreplaceable loss.

“The departure of a mother, no matter how long she was spared to walk this earth with us, is a deeply visceral and irreplaceable loss that shakes the very foundation of a home,” Williams stated.

He encouraged the APC National Secretary to draw strength and consolation from the exemplary life lived by his late mother, as well as the values and legacy she bequeathed to her family and society.

According to the senator, the true success of a mother’s life is reflected in the quality of values she instills in her children and the impact they make on society.

Williams described the deceased as a venerable matriarch who lived a fulfilled and impactful life, noting that she successfully nurtured and raised Dr. Basiru into one of the nation’s distinguished leaders.

“Truly, Mama gave to our nation one of the brightest minds it will ever need, and her essence lives on powerfully through his continuous service to humanity,” he said.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) further extended his heartfelt condolences to Dr. Basiru, his immediate family, friends, and the entire APC family during this period of mourning.

While praying for divine comfort for the bereaved family, Senator Williams urged them to remain steadfast in faith, expressing confidence that God would grant them the strength to bear the painful loss.
