Prestianni Admits Using Homophobic Slur on Vinicius, Not Racial Insult

Gianluca Prestianni has reportedly told UEFA that he directed a homophobic slur at Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, but did not use a racial insult.
According to sources, Prestianni said he called Vinicius a “f*ggot” rather than using a term like “monkey.”
Despite this, UEFA’s disciplinary regulations treat both racist and anti-LGBTQ+ abuse equally. Article 14 states:
"Any entity or person subject to these regulations who insults the human dignity of a person or group of persons on whatever grounds, including skin colour, race, religion, ethnic origin, gender, or sexual orientation, incurs a suspension lasting at least ten matches or a specified period of time, or any other appropriate sanction."
