PRESS RELEASE RE: “Cross River APC Frowns at Negative Social Media Campaign Against APC National Assembly Members From Central by Governor’s Media Aides”
The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State Chapter, has been drawn to a purported press release circulating on social media under the above title, alleged to have originated from the party.
We wish to state categorically as follows:
1. The said publication is false, misleading, and does not emanate from the APC in Cross River State. Party faithful are not authorized to issue press releases on behalf of the party, regardless of intent.
2. All official communications from the APC in Cross River State are duly authorized and authenticated by the State Chairman, *Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq, JP*.
3. While the APC remains firmly committed to peace, unity, love, and growth, we express concern over the actions of certain members across the state whose activities whether directed at the President, the Governor (Leader of the Party in the State), members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, political appointees, or party leaders undermine party cohesion. The party will take decisive measures in this regard in the days ahead.
4. We condemn in totality the activities of internal opposition within the APC family. We equally call on elected and appointed leaders to remain accountable and accommodating to their constituents.
5. For clarity, His Excellency Apostle. Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu the Governor and Leader of the Party in the State, has not endorsed or appointed anyone for the 2027 General Elections, nor has he foreclosed the continuity of any executive or elected officers at any level.
6. As earlier stated by the party, nominations for the 2027 General Elections will be strictly based on performance, loyalty to the party, support for government and party activities, and accountability to constituents and their campaigns / public conduct. Therefore party members who by themselves or through their media aides and supporters attack sitting or aspiring office seekers may never be allowed to fly the flag of our party.
7. While investigations into the source of this false publication are ongoing, we sternly warn against any individual or group usurping the functions of the party.
We urge all members to use their energies to build Peace, Love Unity and Growth which is the focus of Barr. Eba led administration.
All party members and supporters are hereby advised to remain calm and disregard the said publication in its entirety.
