PRESS RELEASE: Calabar Council Chairman Declares October 18 Toll-Free in Honour of Gov Otu’s Birthday
The Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council, Apostle James Anam, has declared Saturday 18th October 2025 as revenue and toll collection free day in Calabar Municipality, in commemoration of the celebration of this year's birthday of the Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu.
In a statement in Calabar, the Council Chairman directed all revenue contractors and revenue agents not to collect tolls from traders in all markets within Calabar Municipality.
In addition, Apostle Anam said the revenue agents and contractors should not sell tickets to all commercial transport operators, including buses, tricycles, taxies as well as mini buses on Saturday.
He advised all revenue agents and contractors to take note and comply accordingly. Apostle Anam also urged traders and other business operators within the Council area to take note and avoid being exploited.
