Police Seek Help Identifying Woman Found Dead in Calabar Hotel
The Cross River State Police Command has renewed its appeal for public assistance to identify a woman found dead in a hotel along Clifford Lane, Calabar South.
The Command, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said the woman had lodged at the hotel with a male guest whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Police said they have released a photograph of the deceased to enable members of the public who may recognise her to provide information about her identity, family or associates. Investigators are also working to locate the male guest and establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
The hotel receptionist on duty at the time of the incident remains in police custody and is assisting investigators with information about the admission of the guests and events preceding the discovery of the deceased. The police stressed that his detention does not amount to a determination of guilt.
The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, directed that the investigation be conducted professionally and objectively to identify the deceased, determine the circumstances of her death and establish the roles, if any, of persons connected to the incident.

THE BEAGLE NEWS had earlier reported on September 9, 2026, that the woman was found dead in the hotel room after reportedly checking in with an unidentified man. Police had also observed what appeared to be marks of violence on her face and neck.
