The Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the country have reaffirmed their collective belief in the party’s capacity to reinvent itself and reclaim its place as Nigeria’s foremost political institution capable of meeting the aspirations of the people.

In a press statement jointly signed by the Progressive and Democratic Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, the leaders declared their unwavering commitment to the rule of law, internal democracy, and strict adherence to the provisions of the party’s constitution in the administration of its affairs.

The statement emphasized that the PDP was founded on the ideals of democracy, justice, equity, and inclusiveness, principles that have sustained its relevance since the advent of the Fourth Republic. According to the chairmen, these principles remain essential to ensuring that the party not only survives current challenges but also emerges stronger, more united, and more reflective of the will of Nigerians.

“We believe that discipline, fairness, and constitutional order are indispensable to the credibility and sustainability of our great party,” the statement read.

The PDP chairmen also threw their weight behind the emergence of Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad as the Acting National Chairman of the party and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. They expressed full confidence in both leaders’ capacity, experience, and integrity to steer the PDP through what they described as a period of renewal and repositioning.

“Both leaders embody the democratic spirit, institutional memory, and inclusive vision required to rebuild trust, restore confidence, and drive the process of reconciliation and reorganization across all levels of the party,” the statement noted.

The chairmen said they were convinced that under the guidance of the new leadership, the PDP would be better positioned to reclaim its role as the principal promoter and defender of democracy in Nigeria.

They further urged all members of the party from the grassroots to the national level to join hands in unity, set aside personal interests, and work collectively toward the revival and transformation of the PDP into a truly people-driven, progressive political movement.

Reiterating their commitment to good governance, the chairmen pledged to build a PDP that Nigerians could once again look to with pride and confidence as the credible alternative, the voice of democracy, and the platform for good governance.
