OGOJA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN PRESENTS 2025 REVISED “BUDGET OF INTEGRATION”

The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has presented the 2025 Revised Budget, tagged the “Budget of Integration,” to the Ogoja Legislative Council. He noted that after one year in office, the remaining months of the year would focus on deepening engagement and integration with grassroots communities.

Presenting the fiscal document before the lawmakers, the Chairman reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to infrastructural development, agricultural support for farmers, and youth empowerment through various skill acquisition programmes. He stated that the Council’s revenue projections would come from the Federation Account, State Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), grants, and other receipts.

According to the budget estimates, the total projected size stands at ₦12,082,991,340. Out of this, ₦4,995,165,710 is earmarked for Recurrent Expenditure, while ₦7,087,825,630 is expected as Capital Receipts. The Council also anticipates generating ₦3,284,480,522 as Internally Generated Revenue.

Chief Agbeh appealed to the Legislative Council to accord the budget the attention it deserves and ensure its timely passage, stressing that this would enable the executive arm deliver the expected democratic dividends to the people.

Welcoming the Chairman, political appointees, heads of parastatals and agencies, security chiefs, traditional rulers, civil society groups, market women leaders, non-indigenous groups, party stalwarts, and members of the public, the Leader of the Ogoja Legislative Council, Hon. Dr. Elizabeth Mbim, expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout. She described it as a testament to the importance the people attach to the budget, assuring that the House would diligently perform its constitutional duties in line with best legislative practices.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Leader, Hon. Sunday Achang, commended the Chairman for the timely presentation of the revised budget. He assured that the House would reconvene soon to continue deliberations.
