NUJ AKWA IBOM CONGRATULATES PROF. ASHONG ON ELECTION AS DEAN OF FACULTY OF COMMUNICATIONS

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, has congratulated Professor Ashong C. Ashong on his election as Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Uyo.
In a goodwill mesaage, Chairman of the Union, Comrade Nsibiet John described Professor Ashong’s emergence through a transparent and democratic process as a testament to the confidence reposed in his academic pedigree, leadership capacity, and sterling character.
The NUJ noted that Professor Ashong’s decades of meritorious service to the intellectual Community and the communication profession, coupled with his vast experience as a scholar and public intellectual, place him in good footing to lead the young but strategic faculty to greater heights.
According to the union, his calm disposition, inclusive leadership style, and unwavering commitment to integrity are expected to consolidate the gains already recorded by the faculty and further strengthen its relevance in national development and media scholarship.
The council also commended the immediate past Dean, Professor Peter Esuh, for his pioneering efforts in establishing, nurturing, and stabilizing the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, noting that his tenure laid a solid foundation for sustained growth and progress.
While encouraging Professor Ashong to sustain his tradition of excellence, selfless service, and mentorship, the NUJ assured him of its goodwill and continued support as he assumes office.
