Nigerians Can no Longer Afford A Normadic President - Labour Party

The Labour Party has criticized President Bola Tinubu for his frequent foreign trips, stating that Nigerians would prefer he remained at home to tackle pressing governance issues.

President Tinubu had departed for the United Kingdom on a 10-day vacation trip, which would also include a visit to France.

In a statement through its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tony Akeni, the party urged President Tinubu to end his "nomadic vacations" and provide Nigerians with effective governance.

The party claimed that President Tinubu's 18-month administration had resulted in 135 million citizens being thrown into extreme poverty.

The party further stated that President Tinubu had left behind a country plagued by economic hardship and insecurity, with 57 Nigerians dying every day from various forms of violent death.

The Labour Party emphasized the need for the government to establish well-equipped health facilities in Nigeria, rather than having leaders who embark on "At-Home-Abroad (AHA) nomadic" medical and social tourism.

The party noted that President Tinubu had spent nearly 160 days traveling and living outside Nigeria since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

The Labour Party criticized the APC governance style, which they believed prioritized the interests of its leaders over the welfare of Nigerians while urging Nigerians to ensure that the syndrome of "AHA Presidents" ends in 2027 by voting for a political party and president who would prioritize building global standard health facilities in Nigeria.

The Labour Party emphasized that this was one of the promises and dividends of true democracy, which they stood for and would attain for Nigerians.
