Nigeria Signs MoU with Asian Economic Development Committee to Boost Electric Vehicle Manufacturing
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Economic Development Committee to establish electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facilities in Nigeria.
The agreement which is aimed at repositioning the economic sector will have the Asian Committee establish EV manufacturing facilities and nationwide charging infrastructures as well as technology transfer and capacity development for Nigerian professionals.
The implementation according to the MOU will be in phases starting with EV assembly and progressing to full in-country production focused on Nigerian participation in the EV value chain.
According to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Senator John Owan Enoh, "This MOU represents a clear shift from policy to execution"
"Our objective is straightforward, Nigerians must be active participants across the electric vehicle value chain, building skills, creating value, and driving innovation, rather than remaining passive observers." Enoh said.
