Yakurr LG Chairman Inaugurates 7th Legislative Assembly, Tasks Councillors To Uphold Accountability, Transparency.

The chairman of Yakurr local government area, Hon. Yibala Igiri Inyang, has inaugurated elected members of the Yakurr Legislative Council, charging the councillors to uphold the core value of accountability and transparency while in office.
In an historic swearing-in ceremony held at the council secretariat in Ugep, Hon. Inyang emphasised on the need for collaboration for good governance and aimed at elevating the welfare of citizens of the Yakurr nation.
He further states: "As you step into your new office, I charge you to carry along with you the vision, dedication and integrity to serve our people with excellence. The challenges ahead may be many but so are the opportunities to lead and inspire meaningful change. Your commitment to duty will surely create an impact that will resonate over the years."
The Clerk of the Yakurr Legislative Council, Mr Thomas Bukie Edor, had read the proclamation heralding the beginning of the 7th Legislative Session in Yakurr Council area.
After taking the Oath of Office, Hon. Inyang Eteng Ofem, representing Idomi ward, emerged as Leader, Mbang Sunday Usang of Assiga ward Deputy Leader, Eteng Bassey Eteng of Ijom ward - Majority Leader, Edu Oyike Augustine of Afrekpe/ Epenty ward - Chief Whip while Achi Gapona Betty of Inyima ward was elected Deputy Leader.
In his Inaugural speech, the Leader of the 7th Legislative Council, Hon Sunday Usang Mbang, vowed to foster collaboration and effective governance within the council towards achieving unprecedented milestones in Yakurr.
"As a matter of fact, we are ready to serve our communities with commitment and integrity at the same time support the views of our new Chairman to ensure that every ward and Constituency experience growth and development," Mbang assured.
In their Goodwill messages, the Paramount ruler of Yakurr, Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Eteng Ubana, HOLDA Yakurr Mrs Rita Ayuk, DPO Yakurr Division Area Command, admonished the newly elected Legislature to ensure good representation of the people for posterity.
The event attracted the Political Class, top government officials, Royal fathers and dignitaries from all walks of life.
