The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 14th Governing Council of the University of Calabar, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (Rtd), has stated Unequivocally, that staff allegedly behind mobilisation of fake graduates for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC will be dealt with.
Speaking in an interview, the Pro Chancellor, who commended NYSC for fishing out the fake graduates, further stated that staff behind this will be fished out and sanctioned accordingly.
He said: "NYSC has done very well on this.
The people are not students, they forged documents and went for employment.
"We are trying to find out the staff behind it.
Some staff of UNICAL were involved so we are looking into it so as to deal with them accordingly.
"This is the first step, the next step is to find out those behind the criminal act", he said.
The Pro Chancellor's reaction follows reports that the NYSC has cancelled certificates of 101 graduates of the University of Calabar.
The affected individuals are reported to have been fraudulently mobilised by the University during the 2021, 2022 and 2023 service years.
The NYSC described it as a major crackdown on certificate fraud and a step towards ensuring the integrity of the national program and prevent unqualified individuals from participating.
