UNICAL CLARIFIES ALLEGED KIDNAP OF A 400L MEDICAL STUDENT

The attention of the University of Calabar has been drawn to a trending online report regarding the alleged kidnap of Mr. Mark Ofre Okwohe, a 400L medical student of the University.
As an institution which places high premium on the well-being of students, we understand that this news has raised concern among students, parents, and the general public.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the University reveals that the student was last seen in his room (106) at Hall 2 Annex on May 31, 2025 as the alleged incident did not occur on campus.
The Hall Chairman and the student's roommate share this view.
The University is working closely with other relevant security agencies to gather more information and ensure a swift resolution of this matter.
The institution through the office of the Ag. Chief Security Officer and the Dean of Students' Affairs, have liaised with the Police Commander, Operation Sting, and other relevant security agencies to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The parents of the alleged victim have been contacted and have provided useful statements that are currently guiding security agencies in their investigation.
