Tinubu Inaugurates Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway, Says Road Will Stimulate Economic Activities in South-South States

The President of the federal republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the construction of the 65km section 3A and 3B of the 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
The section 3A and 3B of the road which is billed to be completed in 36 months will be a 3-lane dual carriage way which will link Cross River to Akwa Ibom state and to other south south states and south eastern parts of the country.
The minister of works, Senator David Umahi, said the road though cost effective is an investment that will stimulate economic activities by facilitating trade, tourism and other sectors of the economy.
He explained that the road project will be of immense economic value as it will be constructed using continuous reinforced concrete slabs which the raw materials are located in Akamkpa.
He called on the indigenes of the landlord communities to give the contractors all amount of collaboration needed to ensure the timely construction of the road.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by the Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu, while carrying out the groundbreaking, said Calabar was once the hub of the transatlantic trade which was majorly transacted through the sea and with the console the coastal highway, Calabar will once again retain its place with options of land and air.
“This project is an economic enabler, facilitator of cultural exchange, inter and lotta regional integration linkage and with the recent groundbreaking of the special Afro-industrial project in state, the products from this zone will have a seamless evacuation corridor.
“The fortunes are therefore favorable to the state as the state is open for possible collaboration and I urge all Cross Riverians to reawaken their entrepreneurial spirit and maximally take advantage of all opportunities the road brings” he said.
