Anambra: Address Insecurity Or Resign, PDP Tells Soludo

From OKOH OMAKA (Abakaliki)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Southeast Media Director, Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali, has condemned the recent violence in Anambra State, urging Governor Chukwuma Soludo to resign if he cannot address insecurity.

Recall that there were tragic incidents at Nibo community in Awka South local government area in which about 19 youths lost their lives to cult clashes.

There was also subsequent attack in Ifite Awka, Awka North local government where unidentified gunmen killed 10 people.

In a press release dated October 24, 2024, Nwafor described the incidents as "unfortunate, cowardly, and dastardly acts meant to destabilize the state, demanding Governor Soludo's resignation.

According t him, "since Professor Chukwuma Soludo cannot protect the lives and property of Ndi Anambra, he should honorably resign immediately."

He criticised the Anambra state government's reactive approach to fighting crime, which has yielded minimal results in Soludo's administration.

"The government must be proactive in stemming the tide of insecurity before it's too late. We express concerns about the security situation in Ihiala local government, where miscreants operate unchecked, and warned that if left unaddressed, the situation may overwhelm the government, forcing citizens to take the law into their own hands.

"We, therefore, call on Governor Soludo to prioritise the lives, well-being, and safety of the people, rather than playing politics while we commend the leadership of High Chief Chidi Chidebe, Anambra state PDP chairman, and congratulated the winners of the recent state congress.

"We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for their eternal rest. Finally, Hon. We urge the people of Anambra state to support security efforts and vote against the APGA-led state government in the upcoming gubernatorial election to restore the state's glory."
