SPORTS: Accolades Trail MTN For Bankrolling Athletics Tournament

Accolades have continued to trail telecommunication service provider MTN for sponsoring the just concluded atheletic competition tagged MTN Champs Season which ended in Calabar over the weekend.
Exchanging views with newsmen at the closing ceremony, Commissioner for Sports in Cross River,Hon Agnes Atsu expressed delight over the successful hosting of the competion,lauding MTN for the hitch-free event.
According to her, "We are thrilled and fancinitated by the success of this talent hunt sporting event. Given the galaxy of stars discovered so far, I am quite optimistic that together,we can sustain the synergy needed to groom these budding talents to global limelight."
She applauded Governor Bassey Otu for the enabling environment to rejig the sporting sector in the state, maintaining that the current administration is disposed to partnering with cooperate citizens like MTN in a bid to revamp the sector in furtherance of the focal point of the people's first mantra.
Commenting on the development,the Special Adviser to the govenor on sports, Ekanem Ekpenyong described the competition as the tonic needed to rejuvenate the state's sporting calendar.
Ekanem opined that" MTN Champs Season 2 came at the appropriate time we are fine when we are fine tuning modalities and programmes to jump start our sporting agenda in tandem with the season of sweetness".
"We are lucky to have a sports enthusiast in the likes of Senator Bassey Otu as a governor. Senator Otu is poised, passionate and committed towards rejuvenating our sporting sector. We are grateful to MTN for providing us with a competition of this magnitude which has become a forerunner to the unvieling of our sporting agenda geared towards restoring our eroding glory in the sector".
In her remarks,MTN Chief Marketing Officer,Ada Sowho said the competition has achived its primary objective of discovering budding talents for grooming ahead of future exposure.
She commended the government and people of Cross River for the tremendous support, noting that the robust synergy cultivated would be sustained for further engagement.
The MTN Champs Season 2 unvieled a galaxy of stars notable Best Okpor who garnered three individual GOLD medals on the final day of the competition to emerged a top athelet from the tournament.
