Senate: Bill To Establish Federal Medical Centre Ugep Passes First Reading

The Senate, on Thursday, passed for first reading a bill seeking to amend the Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (SB 525).
The bill is sponsored by the Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams.
The bill, which seeks to provide a legal framework for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ugep, if passed into law, will cater to the health needs of the entire people of Cross River Central Senatorial District and address the harrowing experience of traveling to Calabar or other neighboring states when seeking for medical attention from tertiary health institutions.
