Sen Eteng Williams Empowers 12 C'Riverians With Foreign Scholarship, Hails PTDF For Programme

Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, has empowered 12 Cross Riverians with full foreign scholarships.
The beneficiaries, cutting across his constituency and beyond, are expected to pursue postgraduate studies at prestigious universities in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
According to a statement dated August 27, 2024, four scholars will pursue Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D) degrees in the UK and Scotland, while the remaining eight will pursue Masters' degrees at renowned universities in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
Sen. Williams, representing Central senatorial district and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), commended Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) for the opportunity to empower his constituents with quality education.
He emphasised the importance of higher degrees to the state and nation's development, adding that "education is the bedrock of society and the best empowerment for young people."
The Senator has also extended the scholarship to support indigent students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in federal and state universities in Nigeria.
One of the beneficiaries, Egbonyi Darlington Egbe, a lecturer at the University of Calabar, thanked Senator Williams for the opportunity to pursue his Ph.D. in Energy and Sustainability at Cranfield University, UK.
Egbe said he had applied several for scholarships without success u till now courtesy of Senator Williams, explaining that the scholarship award covers his tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses which will enable him to focus on graduating with excellence.
Egbe praised Senator Williams, saying: "May God continue to furnish you with all you need to help even more people lead better lives. Thank you, and God bless you beyond measure."
