The University of Calabar (UNICAL), has expelled Chuwuemeka Victory, a Public Health student with registration number 2024402053132F, over a case of phone theft.

This decision was communicated in a letter dated May 14, 2025, and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha.

The letter noted that the Vice Chancellor had received and considered the findings of the Senate Students Disciplinary Committee (SSDC), which investigated the incident during the 2023/2024 academic session.

“As a result of the findings, the Senate has approved SSDC's recommendation that you be expelled from the University for phone theft,” the letter stated.

The letter further declared that the expulsion takes effect from the 2023/2024 academic session. The Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, the Head of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, and the Chief Security Officer have been directed to enforce the expulsion.
