Easter Season: Bekwarra Paramount Ruler Empowers Over 90 Widows

The Paramount Ruler of Bekwarra local government area, His Royal Majesty Linus Ogbeche Odey, has empowered over 90 Widows in the spirit of Easter celebration.
The empowerment was held in two phases with firat phase held at Akwurinyi community 39 on Palm Sunday with 39 widows benefiting while the second phase was at Ubepa for 53 widows.
The widows went home with clothes, wrappers, some bags of rice, packets of Maggi, salt and some packs of beverages drinks as well as with transport fares to take them back to their respective homes.
Speaking with THE BEAGLES NEWS shortly after the event, His Royal Majesty Linus Ogbeche Odey, said this the first first time of embarking on such gesture, promising to make it an annual event to assist the widows withi the community.
"I was motivated to do this because of the passion have for the widows. We need to give them a sense of belonging and identify with them in season as this. I urge my people to always identify with the needy in period like this because it will help them a lot.
"Besides, we have embraced the widows totally as we have put in place a traditional law of widows inheritance since 2019. So, our widows can no longer decide to opt out and remarry after the death of their husbands because they no have law of inheritance for them and their children.
"We have also abolished the traditional regimental laws of not allowing them to come out for a while after the death of their husbands."
In an aesthetic mood, the beneficiaries in their native songs thanked the leader for his magnanimity, praying for his longevity.
