In a bid to deepen focus on women empowerment and national development, Wife of the governor of Cross River state, Rev. Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, along with others, under the aegis of Nigerian Governors Wives Forum, met with the nation's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the scope and potential impact of the First Lady's brainchild, "Renewed Hope Initiative," which centres on four thematic areas, namely: Agriculture, Education, Health and Economic Empowerment.

At the meeting, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu outlined the comprehensive blueprint for"Renewed Hope Initiative," which aims to bring about transformative change and create opportunities for sustainable development.

Under the Initiative's Agricultural component, Senator Tinubu aims to implement robust measures to enhance food security, promote sustainable farming practices, and create opportunities for agricultural entrepreneurship, such as Cooperative grants for farmers, provision of fertilizers, pesticides, improved seedlings, tools and modern equipments.

The Health component focuses on improving healthcare accessibility, maternal, child and newborn health, nutrition, provision of rehabilitation centre to fight and drug abuse cases.

While Education plan, according to the Wife of the President, seeks to uplift educational standards by prioritising the girl child education, providing scholarships particularly for out-of-school children and encouraging vocational trainings.

The Economic Empowerment aspect of the initiative will look at equipping women and youth with the requisite skills and resources to thrive economically through provision of grants and outreach programmes, fostering entrepreneurship and creating jobs.

The "Renewed Hope Initiative" holds immense promise in transforming lives, uplifting communities, and promoting inclusive development.

Speaking after the event, Rev. Otu said "This is a demonstration of the shared commitment to driving positive change and empowering women across Nigeria and I am relishing the synergy from the Federal to State level which promises a dawn of renewed hope for humanity."
