Rev. Otu Charges Muslims On Peaceful Coexistence As Stakeholders In C'River's Prosperity Programme

The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Reverend Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has enjoined the Muslim Community in the State to continue to live in peace with their host communities, saying their Contributions to the social economic and political development of the state cannot be over-emphasised.
The Governor's wife who described the Muslim Community as "critical stakeholders" in building a prosperous Cross River as envisioned by the present administration, stated that irrespective of religion, tribe and ethnicity, they are one before God.
Rev. Otu, who gave the charge while playing host to representatives of the Muslim Community, led by the Sarki Hausa/Fulani and Head of Muslim Community in Cross River State, Alhaji Garba Lawal in her office, assured the community of partnership especially on issues concerning Women and Children, saying some of her programmes will be beneficial to them especially in the area of health, agriculture, education and social welfare.
According to the Governor's wife,muslims in Cross River State must "see the State as their home, do their business and live peacefully, as well as working with all security agencies in the state" to ensure the sustenance of prevailing peace in their domain.
She called for continuous prayers for the state and its leadership, saying she will follow up with her husband on the promises made to the community, one after the other, including the appointment into the leadership of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking earlier, the Sarki Hausa/Fulani and Head of Muslim Community in Cross River State, Alhaji Garba Lawal, said their coming was to identify the community with the mother of the state.
Garba commended the Governor through his wife for extending hands of fellowship to the Ummah, during the last Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, saying it was first of its kind in the recent times.
The Muslim leader also informed the Governor's wife of the plans to organise special prayers for the state in furtherance of the Government policy of recognising God in the "People First Agenda" of Senator Bassey Otu's administration.
On the entourage of the Head of the Muslim community were the Sarki of Calabar Municipality, Alhaji Sanni Baba- Gombe,Chairman of Council of Imam and Scholars, Major Moshood Abdulkadir, Chief Imam of Calabar Municipality,Mallam Ahmed Bassey, Sheik Abdulkadir Bature and Cross River State Ameerah And Chairperson of FOMWAN, Hajia Lateefah Yahaya Indiye, among others.
