Resign From APC Gov't Or Face Expulsion From PDP, Group Tells Wike

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to party members holding positions in the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, urging them to resign or face expulsion.

The group, led by Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu, Protem National Coordinator, emphasized the need to sanitize the party and prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state. They particularly called out Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers State, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the APC-led government.

In a statement released in Abuja, the professionals expressed concern over individuals within the PDP who, despite holding positions in the opposition party, continue to align with the APC government. They warned that such actions undermine the PDP’s credibility and weaken its role as a viable opposition force.

The group insisted that all PDP members serving in the APC government must step down immediately, with Wike being the primary focus. They described it as contradictory for a supposed PDP leader to work in an APC government while openly supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Nwachukwu said: ” The Conference demands that all professed members of the PDP who had taken up appointments at any level in the APC administration, with particular refence to the former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike to immediately resign their positions in the APC government or be expelled from the PDP."

Furthermore, the professionals urged the PDP’s National Working Committee to convene the much-anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in March 2025. They believe this will help reposition the party and restore its integrity.
