In fulfillment of his promise to Cross River-born ex-corps member Miss Arit Abam, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has handed over a brand new, fully-furnished three-bedroom bungalow to her father, Mr. Ubi Abam, in Ugep, Cross River State.

Recall that Miss Abam's show of gratitude to her father upon completion of the National Youth Service Corps programme became an instant internet rave, prompting a compassionate gesture from Governor Eno to reward her commendable family values, which has today gifted the family, which was hitherto dwelling in a ramshackled house, a befitting home.

Governor Eno, who was represented by his Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Uko Udom, SAN, on September 4, 2024, handed over the house documents and a business support grant of N500,000 naira to help the beneficiary in his farming business.

"I am very proud of you; if you hadn't raised your daughter with such values, we wouldn't be here today," he commended the ex-corps member's father.

On his part, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu who was represented by the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Dr. Helen Isamoh Egodo, described the gesture as a testament to the enduring bonds of brotherhood, unity, and shared value between the two States.

"A big thank you to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno. God will replenish you a million times for this remarkable and compassionate home for Mr. Ubi and his family. It is not just an act of charity but a shining example of what it means to be a good neighbour. You have shown that our shared heritage goes beyond boundaries and that in time of need, we can stand by each other," he remarked.

In his project overview, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, said the building is a well-furnished three-bedroom bungalow, equipped with a solar power borehole, 24-hour solar powered electricity, an external kitchen, and fully fenced.

Umoekpo narrated how the Governor was moved by the touching viral video and decided to reward her levelheadedness. He explained that the Governor's team traced the young lady in the video to where she served in Bayelsa State, where they obtained her home address and subsequently met with her entire family.

In an outpour of goodwill messages from stakeholders in the community, the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr Local Government Area, HRM Obol Ofem U. Eteng, former Special Adviser to President Muhammad Buhari, Okoi Obla, Esq, Head of Local Government Administration, Yakurr, Mrs. Rita Egbe Ayuk, all commended Governor Eno for his humane gesture, which is dedicated to improving the lives and livelihood of those in need. The stakeholders prayed for God's blessings on the Akwa Ibom Governor.

In an overwhelming expression of gratitude, the beneficiary, Mr. Ubi Obono Abam, and his daughter, Arit, thanked Governor Eno for his kind gesture. Arit said she had done the video to show the world how grateful she was to her dad, who strived to see her through tertiary education, and never imagined it will bring her such fortunes.

She prayed for God's continuous blessing on Pastor Umo Eno and his family and also appreciated the Governor of Cross River State for giving her automatic employment in the State Civil Service.
