OPINION:  Transformation Driven by integrity and character, the ADC has emerged as a beacon of hope for Nigeria

According to Chief Ralph Nwosu, the National Chairman of the party, after two decades of nurturing and stabilizing the ADC, the party is now poised to fulfill its destiny, at a time when the nation urgently needs transformation. This, he emphasized, is the reason the ADC was formed: to serve as the most appropriate platform for a broad coalition of political parties and visionary leaders united by a common purpose; to rescue Nigeria.

Chief Nwosu described the ADC as more than just a political vehicle for politicians. He emphasized the importance of critical stakeholders embracing integrity and character in alignment with the party’s founding philosophy and vision; principles that can propel Nigeria to its rightful place as a leading force in Africa, and gain global recognition.

The formation of the ADC was carefully thought out, with a deep awareness that one in every black person in the world is Nigerian. With Nigeria being home to the largest black population globally, it is essential that the nation sets the right example.

Chief Nwosu lamented the parochial and self-serving attitudes of much of the political class, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that this mindset remains a major obstacle to national progress. He criticized the lack of clear ideology among many Nigerian political parties, which he said leads to frequent defections and a politics driven more by personal gain than national vision, making it difficult for such parties to maintain loyal membership.

The coalition forming under the ADC represents a new dawn, a true opportunity for the emancipation of Nigeria’s citizens. Chief Nwosu expressed optimism about the growing alignment among opposition figures, confident that their collaboration could lay the foundation for meaningful national growth.

The ADC, he asserted, is not coincidentally the party of choice to lead this movement; it is the realization of a long-held dream. The party’s logo, a handshake, symbolizes friendship, unity, and camaraderie, reflecting the spirit needed to restore trust in Nigeria’s democratic system.

He warned that the character of individuals joining this coalition is critical, especially at a time when Nigerians are losing faith in democracy, as demonstrated by widespread voter apathy. The 2023 elections serve as a stark indicator; fewer than 30 million voters participated out of a population of over 200 million, with the president elected by under 9 million votes.

The problem, Chief Nwosu concluded, goes beyond the failings of the APC. Nigeria needs to be rescued. The emerging coalition, anchored on integrity, credibility, and character, offers the nation a true path forward.
