NUJ, FRSC Vow to Collaborate on Road Safety Awareness as Cross River Records The Lowest Road Accidents in 2024

Cross River state has been adjudged as the state with the least cases of road accidents in the year 2024 in the country.

The new sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Cross River Sector Command Joseph Weniebi Toby made this known to newsmen during a courtesy visit to the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center, calabar.

The sector commander said the policy thrust of the FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed which is aimed at rejigging and repositioning of operational strategies, strategic partnership, training and retraining of staff as well as digital transformation in operations have resulted in improved productivity especially as concerns safety on the roads.

He maintained that the role of the media cannot be overemphasized for the FRAC to deliver on its mandate and however sued for synergy between the Nigerian Union of Journalist and the FRSC stating that road safety is a shared responsibility. 

Responding, the statement chairman of the Nigerian Union Of Journalist (NUJ) Cross River State Chapter Comrade Archibong Bassey said the partnership between the Union and the NUJ has been a long standing relationship which has yielded a lot of positive outcomes.

The Chairman applauded the tireless efforts of men of the state command of the FRSC which has yielded in the state having the least number of road crashes in the country.

She however pledged to partner with the FRSC to ensure proper enlightenment of the public on proper road usage and road safety methods especially in Criss River State in order to maintain the low rate of road accidents.
