NEMA/Red Cross Visits Scene Of Ikom Market Fire Disaster, Assures Swift Intervention

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigerian Red Cross visited the Ikom main market to assess the fire incident that took place in the market.

Recall that a fire incident occurred at the Ikom main market on Monday April 8 where goods and shops worth millions of naira were destroyed.

The visit was aimed at taking on the spot assessment and proper capturing of affected traders for possible assistance.

After proper inspection and assessment of the the market, the team assured the traders of intervention and assistance to help them return back to business as quick as possible.

The chairman of Ikom main market traders union, Mr Morris Ewonkom, who spoke on behalf of the traders, revealed that the source of the fire couldn't be ascertained but.

He ceased the opportunity to call on the government to not only provide them with relief materials but also out necessary measures that will curb such situations in the future or at least reduce it to the barest minimum.
