The Commissioner representing Cross River State at the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC,Rt Hon Orok Duke says the present board of the agency is disposed to a robust synergy with governors in the region with a view of improving the well-being of Niger Deltans.
Duke who stated this while distributing relief materials for 2022 flood victims at Eto Mkpe community in Akpabuyo, Cross River, said"NDDC is an intervention agency, our work is purely to assist in adding value to the lives of the people of the Niger Delta region"
The state NDDC commissioner revealed "since that Cross River failed to get its share of the palliatives as at 2002, I had to revisit the matter upon my assumption of office in 2023, and got approval for their release.
"We, as a commission, work in tandem with the state government and augment wherever necessary in a bid to better the lives of the Niger Deltans. I'd like it to be on record that the work of the commission is in tandem with that of the state governor Sen. Bassey Otu.
"Where he stops, we augment, and where we stop, he continues from there with the common goal of touching the lives of the citizens and leaving the community a better place.
The state NDDC commissioner, however, disclosed that aside from the relief materials, other interventions will be carried out in the community, which will include road projects.
Receiving the materials, the youth leader of the community, Mr. Felix Effanga, disclosed that the NNDC is not new to the community, as there are solar-powered lights already being installed in the community courtesy of the NDDC.
He however, thanked the state rep for finding Eto Mkpe worthy of the materials, which he promised will be used judiciously.
