NCAFS Holds 46th Regular Meeting in Calabar, Prioritizes Food Security, Resilience to Climate Change

The National Council on Agriculture and Food Security (NCAFS) is holding her 46th regular meeting with the theme Resilience To Climate Change Towards Sustainable Food Security” in Calabar.
The meeting which is hosting stakeholders in the agricultural nationwide is billed to hold from the 11th to 15th of November 2024 at the Calabar International Convention Center.
Declaring the 5 day event open, the Permanent secretary federal ministry of agriculture and food security Mr. Temitope Fashedemi said the meeting is a platform for reviewing ongoing policies and programs geared towards agricultural development in the nation.
He explained that the meeting which is a gathering of stakeholders in the agric will assess the effect of ongoing initiatives and fine-tune strategies for a meaningful impact on the economy as well as explore best approaches to sustaining food security, job and wealth creation.
Welcoming participants to Cross River state, the state commissioner for agriculture Mr. Johnson Ebokpo said the Agricultural sector is still identified as a springboard for
national economic recovery, stabilization and growth.
The commissioner maintained that food security is core aspect of president Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda as well as the peoples first agenda of Governor Bassey Otu hence the initiation of programmes and policies geared towards agricultural sustainability.
In separate goodwill messages, some partners maintained that as stakeholders the meeting provides opportunity to share experiences on successful agribusinesses as well as continually provide an enabling environment to actualize the
country’s agricultural potentials with the engagement of individuals and groups in
productive ventures.
They added that the discussions will also focus on the pressing global challenge of climate change and proffer solutions and commitments that will combat its global effects.
