MED/SUPERINTENDENT COMMENDS GOV OTU FOR TRANSFORMATION IN THE MEDICAL SECTOR.

The Medical Superintendent (MS) of General Hospital, Calabar, Dr Kenneth Takim has commended the Governor of Cross River State His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, over the massive transformation recorded in the medical sector of the State. He stated that under the present administration, the health sector has enjoyed a lot of transformation.
According to him, the General Hospital in Calabar before now, was in a decrepit state, with dilapidated structures, which dotted everywhere. “There was a total degradation of the materials and equipment at the hospital. Now with the support of the present administration led by Governor Bassey Otu, there has been a general improvement in the state of the hospital.” Takim, noted.
Takim further noted that the key priorities of the present administration regarding healthcare is to make sure that every Cross Riverian achieves good health through affordable and universal health coverage. He added that nobody in the state will be left out and that everybody should have free access to healthcare.
He acknowledged that the present administration has helped the hospital tremendously by providing the necessary equipment, partnerships with other nongovernmental organisations as well as effective services delivery. “The initiative of the present government has affected the hospital and the community positively. There is in place, a total free medical care for pregnant women, children under the age of five, and elderly persons. The hospital has benefited from government support in terms of provision of equipment to all the departments.” Takim, remarked.
