MAN MURDERS WIFE IN AKWA IBOM OVER ALLEGED INFIDELITY

A horrific incident occurred in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, earlier today where a 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, allegedly murdered his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, with a machete over accusations of infidelity.

The police responded swiftly to a distress call and found Victoria's mutilated body outside their home in Oron Local Government Area.

According to preliminary investigations, Victor attacked his wife with a machete and then attempted to evade arrest by hiding in the ceiling of their house.

However, the police operatives were able to apprehend him and recover the machete used in the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served. He also warned against domestic violence and encouraged residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes.

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Okon Asukwo Enweme, has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Mrs. Victoria Victor Okoh by her husband.

Chief Enweme visited the crime scene at Effiong Essang Street, Oron, accompanied by government officials and security personnel.

During his visit, the Chairman expressed shock and disgust at the brutal murder, describing it as "barbaric," "inhuman," and "wickedness in high places." He emphasized that such acts are alien to their culture and warned against any further escalation of violence by the deceased's family or community youths seeking revenge.

Chief Enweme assured the public that the suspect, Mr. Victor Okoh, is currently in police custody awaiting trial and that the law will take its course without delay. He urged residents to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation or disturbance and instructed the police and other security agencies to expedite their investigation.

The Chairman's delegation included notable figures such as the Vice Chairman, Princess Nse Owoebiak; the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mrs. Sarah Efretuei; and the Chief of Staff, Ulap Victor Joe, among others.
