LG Elections: Deputy Gov, Odey, Expresses Confidence in APC's Victory
Idum-Mbube, Ogoja — Cross River State is witnessing a state-wide exercise today as the Local Government Council Elections are taking place across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state. Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, joined his constituents to cast his vote at his polling unit in Idum-Mbube, Ogoja. Speaking to the press shortly afterward, Odey who stated that materials had already been delivered to most polling units in the state, expressed confidence in the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Chris Agbeh, as well as other APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates across the state.
"Cross Riverians will vote massively for APC candidates across the state because only the APC has been campaigning", the Deputy Governor remarked. Speaking further, he opined that the credibility of the party's candidates and the trust in the leadership of Governor Prince Bassey Otu would make victory easy. Dr. Peter Odey highlighted that the APC-led administration, through its current effort to employ youths into the state civil service and providing various empowerment and skills programs has inspired public confidence and support. He decried the unhealthy trend of anticipating political appointments instead of engaging in meaningful enterprise. Deputy Governor Odey also stated that the impact of the Otu administration is already being felt at the grassroots despite the hitherto absence of political leadership in the local government sector.
Odey congratulated Hon. Chris Agbeh and his running mate, Mr. Emmanuel Idris Idi Yakubu, in advance, praising them as leaders prepared to drive development and ensure the well-being of the Ogoja people.
With votes being cast in all 18 Local Government Areas, the Deputy Governor noted that this election represents a significant moment for Cross River State. “The APC’s solid track record and the promise of sustained progress have built a wave of support that I am confident will carry our candidates to victory,” he said, as Cross Riverians across the state continue to turn out at polling stations to make their voices heard.
The results of today’s election are eagerly awaited as Cross Riverians anticipate the the commencement of local governance under the the Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s administration.
