GSS Akim Class of 2008 Gives Back to Alma Mater

Students of Government Secondary School Akim, Qua Town, (2008 set), yesterday, held their first Back to School & Mentorship Project, with the theme “Building Tomorrow Today.” The event which took place in the school premises, was aimed at giving back to their alma mater, as well as, inspire the current students through mentorship, support, and donations.
The day, which was filled with activities, had among others, a mentorship talk, lively quiz competition, and the distribution of school bags, sandals, and other essential school materials to indigent students .
Speaking at the event, the interim National President of the association, Dr. Bassey Akaka, underscored the importance of giving back: “It’s our responsibility to invest in the younger generation and help shape a brighter future,” he said.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Charles Ekanem, praised the efforts of members of the Class of 2008 and encouraged students to seize the opportunities presented. “Education is the bedrock of success, and we are here to support you on your journey.” He said.
The event also included inspiring talks from notable alumni, such as former Girls’ Senior Prefect Mrs. Felicia Bassey, Mrs. Promise Osa, Michael Ogbor, and Emeka Mboto, among others.
Delivering a vote of thanks, on behalf of staff and students of the school, the principal, Mrs. Amayo Edet, expressed deep gratitude to the Class of 2008 for their thoughtful contributions. She encouraged them to stay united and continue making positive impacts, both in the school and in their respective endeavours.
