Gov.Otu Orders Suspension Of SEMA Boss

The Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, Chief Mrs Angela Ogeyi Odey has become the first casualty in the Governor Otu led Administration.
Chief Odey was suspended via a release dated 30 Oct, 2023 duly signed by the Chief Press
Secretary to the governor , Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche.
In Parts the statement read ,"The governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has ordered the immediate suspension of the Director General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA ,Chief (Mrs) Angela Ogeyi Odey.
Consequently, the DG has been directed to hand over to the most senior director in the Agency before close of work today, Monday, October 30, 2023.
The release further directed that" During the period of her suspension, she is requested not to be engaged covertly or overtly, in the administration of the SEMA except otherwise directed by His Excellency.
Though the release didn't give reasons for the suspension, The Beagle news findings revealed that Mrs. Odey's suspension is connected to the recent appointments she made in the SEMA.
She had through a letter dated Oct 29, 2023 and signed by her, approved the appointment of 14 into SEMA without following due process.
According to findings, Odey has no such powers vested in her office and ought to have consulted relevant authorities before making such appointments.
As a consequence of that action, all the appointments are null and void according to an inside source.
She was accused of disrespect for constituted authority and high-handedness in the discharge of her official duties.
