Nationwide Division One League (NLO) side, SGFC Athletics Sports Club and 27 others Nigerian clubs will take part in SPOCS Scouting Championship, one of Africa's biggest scouting tourneys in the country.

The football scouting fiesta is expected to feature among the 28 teams across the country, Nigeria Premier League clubs like Bendel Insurance, Bayelsa Utd, Box 2 Box, the team that discovered Victor Osemeh, Shooting Stars (Victor Osimhen's boyhood club) and NNL side, Beyond Limit FC.

The event is billed to hold at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State from October 2 - 9, 2023.

Organized by SPOCS Nigeria, a subsidiary of the renowned sports agency, SPOC Global, which manages a lot of top talent worldwide with the aim of further discovering and harnessing talents for the global football markets.

SGFC Athletics will be going into the competition in fine fettle, having won the just concluded 2023 Ciroma of Ilorin Cup in August.

The club's return to Ikenne would be its first since lifting the maiden edition of the 2022 Evolution Cup.

SGFC Athletics also emerged top of the Kwara State centre of the 2023 NLO abridged league season before succumbing to defeat in the hands of Shooting Stars Team B of Ibadan in the first playoffs round.

Reacting to this development, an American-based sports enthusiasts and club owner, Richard Opanuga, said the tournament would draw top ranked clubs scouts globally, notably, from New Castle Utd, FC Luzern of Swiss, Vancouver Whitecaps of Canada, Slavia Praque, Rapid Wien FC, Redstar Belgrade and Frankfurt.

He added that the tournament would create ample opportunity for players to demonstrate their skills and catch the attention of professional teams scouts that would be available.

"This is an opportunity we have to grab, the event will provide us with the opportunity for our players to go out there and show case what they have which will give them the opportunity to sign up with International football clubs.

“This is a good initiative from SPOCS it is one of its kinds like I said we just have to tap into this. At SGFC Athletics we have the talents to parade and I am confident that it is a sign that something good is just about to happen," he remarked.

Gbenga Agbejoye of SPOCS Nigeria said he had showcased few clubs around while visiting the clubs training sessions to ensure a better squad presentation in search of the exceptional lads, adding that he is targeting talents between the 17 - 20 years bracket.

He said he is "on top gear, highly spirited and expecting every team to parade top talents with high class sporting agility for Sacher Empacher and his team's delight."
