FG Mulls Strategies Against Soaring Food Prices

The Managing Director of the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Dr Femi Adekanbi, says the new management team of river basin will implement strategic measures to crash food prices in the country.
He said that the agency's resourcefulness and multipurpose approach would foster significant growth in agricultural production and food availability.
The newly appointed Managing Director stated this when he led other members of the management team on a guided tour of the agency's facilities in Edo.
He, however, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts, especially from host communities where the various basin projects are located, for this goal to be archived
To the staff, Adekanbi said, "we must charge ourselves to be more diligent and committed because the new management is setting clear expectations for performance and responsibility.
"We are hopeful that this new chapter will bring fresh energy, innovative ideas, and a renewed sense of purpose to the river basin and in line with President Bola Tinubu's commitment to ensuring food sufficiency."
Similarly, Adegboyega Bamisile, Executive Director, Finance, assured investors community of the safety of their investment in the new management team of the BORBDA.
He also noted that the nation's agricultural sector needs concerted efforts from all Nigerians to guarantee food security.
According to him, "we, the new management team of BORBDA, will guarantee any investor or partner security of their fund and will also ensure they get a return on investment that is very dynamic."
He said that the new management team will conduct asset valuation exercise of the BORBDA to understand assets in ground and the liability. The essence of this is to attract more investment."
On his part, Johnson Oghuma, Executive Director, Agric Services, called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to improve on security around the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority facilities to achieve food security.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu had recently appointed Mr Mike Ezomo (Edo) as Chairman of the Benin-Owena Development Authority, with Femi Adekanbi (Ondo) as Managing Director.
He also appointed Dr Austin Izagbo (Delta) as Executive Director for Planning and Design; Mr Johnson Oghuma (Edo) for Agricultural Services; Adegboyega Bamisile (Ekiti) for Finance; and Bayode Akinduro (Ondo) for Engineering.
