Edo 2024: Diaspora group pledges support for APC candidate

From Imafidon OSAZUA (Benin)

Edo in diaspora have pldged to mobilise both human and material  support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Monday Okpebholo in the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo.

The pledge was made by Mr Martins Sadoh, the Holland based security expert who has been appointed as the Deputy Director of Diaspora in the APC campaign council.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Benin on Thursday, Sadoh pointed out that all hands needs to be on deck for a successful outing for the party.

He appealed to the party leadership and faithful to avoid the mistake that led to the party poor showing in the 2020 election.

He said that the diaspora APC have already pledged to mobilize their love ones at home and broad for Okpebholo and his deputy, Mr Dennis Idahosa

"Our resolve is work from now until the results is out and in favour of the APC.

"To ensure this, we will galvanize all that is needed, human and material resources to deliver Okpebholo and Idahosa come September 21.

Sadoh said the needed tonic for the diaspora to work hard to deliver the party is because of the failed promises of the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.

"It will be an aberration to watch and allow another of the likes of Obaseki to be entrusted with the affairs of the state again.

"So, for me, I see this appointment as a call to serve and am happy that as usual,  I will have the support of everybody both at home and abroad.

"We cannot afford to entrust an Obaseki protégé as Governor again in this state. Not only have we not learnt from  our mistake, we are doing all that is humanly possible not to repeat such mistakes again," he said.
