DIG South-South Rates Crime Rate In C’River Low As NDDC Distributes Solar Powered Lights To CRS Police Command

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South South, Sokari-Pedro Daniel has confirmed that crime rate in Cross River State has reduced drastically with the state recording the least crime rate south-south.

The Police boss stated this when the commissioner representing Cross River State in the Niger Delta Development Commission Rt. Hon. Orok Duke paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Speaking during the visit, the NDDC Commissioner Rt. Hon. Orok Duke said his visit was to create partnership and synergy with the security agency in the fight against crime in the state.

He revealed that the NDDC has been at the fore front of the drive to better the lives of the people of south-south through various interventions which security is one of them.

He lauded the Nigerian Police Force for fighting crime to the barest minimum in the state while donating solar powered street lights to the force.

Responding, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South South, Okunlola Kola Kamaldeen thanked the NDDC for partnering the force in boosting security in the state stating that the task of ensuring a safe and secure society is a collective task that should not be left for the police alone.

He revealed that in south-south Nigeria, Cross River State presently boasts of the lowest crime rate.

He maintained that this feat was attained through a collective effort from all stakeholders while reiterating that security is every man’s business.

In the same vein, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Grimah Augustine, maintained that the role the street lights will play in ensuring a crime free state cannot be overemphasised while assuring the commission that the lights will be put to effective use accordingly.
