Deputy Gov Commends Obol Lopon of Ugep, Eteng, For Maintaining Peace In Yakurr

The Deputy Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has commended the Obol Lopon of Ugep and the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, for his effort towards maintaining peace in the area.

The Deputy Governor made the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on the Monarch during his 10th year anniversary on the throne and 66th birthday celebration held at Umor Otutu Palace in Ugep.

Odey,   who said peace is bedrock of development, described Obol Lopon Eteng as an Ambassador of Peace, urging him to sustain it and continue to partner with the traditional institution for the overall development of the State.

The Deputy Governor used this medium to join well-wishers to felicitate and congratulate him on behalf of himself, the government and the people of the State.

Earlier, the Royal father thanked the state government for the honour done to him by honouring his invitation, pledging the Royalty and unalloyed support and cooperation of the Yakurr Nation to the government led by His Excellency Prince (Dr.) Bassey Edet Otu.

The Monarch further commended the state government for providing Ugep community in particular and Yakurr in general with infrastructure such as roads, traffic lights, appointments to sons and daughters of Yakurr as well as appointments and sustaining Leboku International New Yam Festival to greater heights.

In his remark, the Chairman of the occasion Prof. Alexander Iwara, commended the Obol Lopon, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng for taking Ugep in particular and Yakurr in general to greater heights and charged him to continue bringing more development and peace to the area.

The colourful event was marked with the commissioning of Yakurr local government council gateway by His Royal Majesty Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng.
