Cross River: Vena Resumes As PDP Chairman, Promise to Reposition Ahead of 2027

After some political interregnum, the Cross River state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Venatius Ikem, Esq, has resumed office.

The state chapter of PDP has been engulfed in leadership crisis for some time untill he NWC waded in to restore sanity, by nullifying the processes that led to suspension of Ikem and gave him a clean bill of health.

Following this, Ikem has embarked on peace mission consulting critical stakeholders on the need for the party leaders to come together and way forward.

In a sort of pomp and ceremony style, Ikem stormed the state pqrty secretariat along Mary Slessor Avenue, Calabar about 9: am in grand style and was received by hundreds of party members including Exco and chapter chairmen.

Supporters and rummers were on hand to usher him into his office.

Addressing the crowd, Ikem said: "A couple of months ago , a devil visited our secretary and wanted to steal what does. Ot belong to him.

"But today we say no to that devil. We believe God for the quick intervention. I promise to return the party to a winning ways. I owe nobody any grudge.

"My suspension is reawakening period and I can see that my suspension made an eye opener.

"I promise I will change my ways. We will do a lot of things this time. Every body i have offended please forgive me. Let what happend to me to be a big lesson for every politician. My coming back implies that our party will rise again after the fall."

Explaining that the party is yet to come out of shock of losing election, he said: "The reality we face now is there is little we can do now other than to remain refocused and have a deeper reflection about our party 

"Within the state, we will continue strategise and redirect our energy. What happend in the state is natural that you can agree and disagree. 

"The abysmal failure of APC is a call for us to get ready to take back our state. We have a challenge to reposition our party."
