The Cross River State Tourism Bureau has won the Best Exhibition Stand in Nigeria at the 2024 AKWAABA African Travel Market.

AKWAABA African Travel Market is West Africa’s leading travel and tourism fair, held annually in Lagos, Nigeria.
It serves as a vital platform for stakeholders in the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors to connect, network, and showcase their services to the global audience.
The 2024 event attracted participants from across Africa and beyond, including airlines, hotels, tour operators, and tourism boards.
CROSS RIVER DEBUT AFTER 10 YEARS
Cross River Tourism Bureau participated in AKWAABA 2024 after about ten years and subsequently emerged the Best Exhibition Stand.
The prestigious honour is a testament to the exhibitor’s creativity, impact, and ability to attract and engage attendees.
The exhibition stand, titled “Rediscover Cross River,” was also a testament to the state’s rich cultural heritage, diverse attractions, and its new direction under the theme “Season of Sweetness” and the “People First” agenda of the Sen. Prince Bassey Otu administration.

Speaking, the Managing Director of Cross River Tourism Bureau, Prince Ojoi Ekpenyong, who assumed office in 2023, said: "The Bureau has been making remarkable strides in repositioning Cross River State as a premier tourism destination in Africa and beyond.
"In line with our vision and commitment, we have spearheaded several innovations and initiatives aimed at revitalising the state’s tourism sector, earning it recognition on both national and international platforms.
"The engaging presentation showcased Cross River’s unique offerings, from its lush rainforests and vibrant festivals to its historical landmarks and picturesque landscapes.
"Cross River State, often referred to as the tourism capital of Nigeria, has long been a favored destination due to its unique blend of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and hospitality.
"From the famous Obudu Mountain Resort and the enchanting Agbokim Waterfalls to the bustling Calabar Carnival, the state boasts an array of attractions that cater to various tastes.
"The award at AKWAABA 2024 underscores Cross River’s renewed vigor in promoting these assets and re-establishing itself as a key player in the tourism industry.
"The Bureau’s participation in AKWAABA 2024 is a clear indication of its commitment to rebranding and revitalizing Cross River’s tourism sector.
