Cross River: Farmer Joins League of Highest Title Holder of 400 Sticks of Yams in Ugep Community

A philanthropist and community leader, His Highness Obol Ikoi Okoi Okpotum (aka Okpotum Awonke) has joined the league of highest yam title holders with 400 sticks of yams (Ledu Opeli) I Yakurr local government area of Cross River state.
Performing the investiture/coronation on Obol Ikoi Okoi Okpotum in his country home Ugep at the weekend, His Highness Obol Godwin Okoi commended Obol Okpotum for his philanthropic gestures to the ugep community and beyond.
Obol Okoi further commended the new Initiate for finding time to engage in farming which accordingly to him is the bedrock of economy and urged the youths to join farming business for source of livelihood.
In his remark the Obol Lopon of Ugep and the Paramount ruler of Yakurr HRM Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, hailed Ledu Opeli and Obol Oje Oneng 1 of Biko-Biko clan of Ugep His Highness Obol Ikoi Okoi Okpotum for his numerous philanthropic gestures including awarding scholarship, renovation of Biko-Biko town hall, sinking of motorised bore-hole, building of medical centre to the Federal Polytechnic Ugep and constant assistance to the less privileged in the society and people living with disabilities.
He enjoined others to emulate the sterling qualities of Obol Ikoi Okoi Okpotum Ledu Opeli.
Earlier, in his remark, His Highness, the village head of Kiwel 2 of Biko-Biko and ledu Opeli title holders, His Highness Obol Ikoi Okoi Okpotum Ledu Opeli l, thanked them for accepting him to join the highest farmers association in Yakurr land, assuring that he will continue to partner with the association for the betterment of youths.
While appealing to the government to assist the farmers, he said it has become imperative to encourage farmers to produce more food to secure our future.
He called on the youths to see farming as a business and economic motivator.
The high point of the colourful event was presentation of ten wheel chars, ten clutches, and ten walker guide to great minds foundation of persons with deformities across Yakurr local government area.
