The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has clinched eight local government councils as results of the November 2 polls trickle in.

The party won in Abi, Akamkpa, Akpabio, Bakassi, Belwarra, Etung, Obudu  and Odukpani in the results which was announced by the chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission CROSIEC Dr. Ekong Boco.

Announcing  the results, Dr. Boco said Egballa Bassey of the APC won in Abi with 26,265 votes.

In Akamkpa, Akposi Felix of the APC won with 53, 882 votes, while Effiom Effiong also of the APC emerged winner in Akpabio with 25,164 votes.

Etim Asido, the APC chairmanship candidate for Odukpani  also emerged winner with 41, 368 votes.

Dr. Boco attributed the delay in announcing all the results to the difficult terrain in the state as the roads are bad and said more will be announced as they trickle in.

In short remarks after the  release of the first batch of results, the incoming chairman of Bakassi local government Okon Etim promised to prioritize the resettlement of his people in line with the Green Tree Agreement.
