C'River; Royal Father Tasks Public Officers On Selfless Service, Lauds LG Commissioner

The Paramount Ruler of Calabar Municipality and Ndidem of Quas, HRM Ndidem Eta Bassey Eteta 111 has enjoined political officeholders to use the privilege accorded them by such offices to ensure selfless contributions to the growth of the state as well as the well-being of their constituents.

Speaking at the 2023 annual Qua Ejagham Cultural Day celebration before conferring special awards on his prominent sons and daughters,Ndidem Bassey Eteta tasked elected and appointed government officials "to be selfless, sacrificial and humane in their conduct and dealings to guarantee a positive appraisal by posterity" 

He congratulated the awardees for scaling through the criteria used in selection describing their profile as a source of pride worthy of commendation and emulation, especially by others in public offices

The royal father disclosed that the award was in recognition of the selfless sacrifices and humanitarian posture displayed by the awardees in public service and other fields of human endeavors.

Ndidem asserted that " The commitment, zeal, and passion displayed in the discharge of your official engagement is commendable and worthy of emulation.
The peace and tranquility within our domains is attributable to your collective efforts, determination, and resolute steps in ensuring the security of lives and property of our people and residents. We are pleased with you"

 He lauded the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Chief Victor Idem for ensuring an enabling environment for commercial activities in the metropolitan city   and for mobilizing other stakeholders to give Governor Bassey Otu the needed support and cooperation to restore the lost glory of the state


Responding, Chief Idem who was accompanied by his wife Mrs Yvonne Idem to the event held at the Ndidem Palace expressed appreciation for the award noting that the honour will inspire him to do more for the good of humanity.

In his words"The recognition I have received today will inspire me to continue striving to create a positive impact in the lives of the people of Calabar Municipality and the entire Cross River state as a whole"

Chief Idem continued" The present administration is committed to the implementation of people-oriented policies with the sole purpose of improving the living standards of our people and accelerating wealth creation. We intend to establish well-equipped vocational training centers across the Local Government areas to equip our youths with skills for self self-reliance for job creation"

He implored royal fathers to ensure peace and harmony within their domain stressing that no government initiative can be implemented in areas bedeviled by conflicts.

Other awardees at the event included the House of Representatives Member for Calabar Municipality Odukpani Federal Constituency, Hon Bassey Akiba, Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Effiom Ekaha, Director General, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Elder James Anam, Chairman, State Forestry Commission, George Oben-Etchi,  erstwhile Major of Calabar, Ntufam Donatus Etim and former state chairman of All Progressives Congress APC, Ntufam Edim Inok.
