C'River Government Trains Top Ranking Officers for Quality Service Delivery of It's Workforce

  In a bid to enhance quality service delivery in its workforce, the Cross River state government has held a one day masterclass training workshop on media, protocol, public speaking and personal financial management for Directors, Protocol Officers as well as Personal Assistants from various MDAs of the state. 

  Addressing participants, the state  Chairman, Internal Revenue Service, Prince Edwin Okon, explained the purpose of the training was to close the gap on the yearnings for better quality service in the state workforce in preparation for a better Cross River state.

  Prince Okon expressed believe that 'knowledge is power ' and to get the much desired output, there must be training and retraining that will restructure and reshape government employees.

  "We're motivated to organise this training because, we believe knowledge is power, you don't wait for people to make mistakes, so as to a portion blame.
  
  "Train the workforce and get the right people to do the job in order to add value to the system.

  "His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, wants people that will render quality service and because we are preparing Cross River for a better place we need to train" Internal Revenue Boss emphasised.

  In a paper titled, Public Speaking and Media Management, a Communication Consultant and Don Mass Communication department, Uncal, Calabar, Dr. Judex Okoro, noted the effective combination of public speaking and media management will ultimately drive revenue growth in the state.

  Dr. Okoro who is also the Editor-in- Chief of THE BEAGLE NEWS, Calabar said: "By developing effective public speaking skills, revenue officers, can enhance their building trust with stakeholders and improve communication skills through mastering techniques with taxpayers and colleagues to achieve desirable goals."

  Another Consultant / Specialist and Professor of Banking and Finance, University of Calabar, Prof. Ame Offiong, in her paper, Personal Financing, noted the importance of saving cannot be over emphasised as it provides back up for a rainy day and lists the benefits of saving to include, financial security, increased wealth, improved financial discipline while it helps for financial flexibility as well as reduces debts.

A Retired Permanent Secretary and state Chief Protocol, Mr Bassey Koffereh, stressed the urgent need for the Board of Internal Revenue Service to create a brand for itself by ensuring that Staff personify the brand through imbibing  attitudinal change of adopting conscious approach in tax drive, uniform dress code and slogans that creates partnership between taxpayers and Staff of IRS.

  Speaking on behalf of the organisers, the Special Adviser to the Governor on events management, Mr Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, harped on humility and consistency apart from loyalty as the key in service and commended the state Internal Revenue Boss for the initiative to build a formidable force in the state Civil Service through training.
