C'River Environment Commissioner Announces Resumption of Weekly Market Sanitation During the Yuletide ... Pledges Provision of More Receptible Bins

 The Cross River Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi has announced the resumption of the state weekly Market Sanitation exercise so as to sustain the Clean and Green status of Cross River during the Yuletide.  

  The Weekly Market Sanitation which was in place before the introduction of the monthly sanitation will be carried out at major markets of the state in the early hours of every Saturday throughout the month of December 2024.

  Hon. Osogi who was speaking shortly after monitoring the November 2024 exercise in Calabar,  the state Capital applauded the level of compliance from Cross Riverians towards the sanitation programme and advised the people to keep it up.

   "One of the machineries put in place to maintain the Clean and Green status of the state is sustainability. Sustaining the attitude to keep the environment clean, every day, every week, every month and all year round, whether Carnival or no Carnival. It is our behaviour, our culture and our norm" Osogi emphasised.

  The Commissioner also noted that the present administration and the Niger Delta Commission (NDDC) have taken appreciable steps in providing Receptible Bins to contain the volume of waste generated and promised to provide more.

  On the desilting of troubled areas, he called on residents of such areas to always inform the ministry for proactive measures siting instances of Ibok Street near Effio-ette round about and some parts of Marian road where about four trucks were mobilised to the areas and the waste  cleared from the streets.

  He further explained that WAEC External candidates who had to write the exams on the morning of sartuday 30 November 2024, were not affected by the restriction of movement because the Council had secured an express permission prior to the sanitation day.
