Christmas: NSE Spouses Forum Distributes Educational Materials To Children In Calabar

Consistent with the spirit of Christmas, Spouses Forum of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Calabar Branch has distributed education materials to hundreds of children in the Calabar metropolis.

Chairperson of the Forum, Mrs. Martha Desmond Ewa said the rationale behind the distribution of the materials was to encourage learning among children.

"Our commitment and resolve is to to lend a helping hand to parents, given that in a few days schools will resume and also to encourage learning."

She said the Forum will continue to see to the needs of children especially those whose parents might not have the financial ability, adding that it was also in fulfillment of Christ's command to show love.

Also Speaking, one of the members of the Forum, Mrs. Joy Enang Egbe expressed delight to God for the providence and opportunity of the group to carry out the exercise. She said it has been their yearning to touch life no matter how little.

"There is Joy in giving, as a group we feel fulfilled whenever we have opportunity to give, no matter how little. Our prayer is that God continue to provide so we could do more."

Mrs. Egbe, who also expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Society of Engineers, described it as their support base and sure foundation stating that with its continuous support the Forum will do more and better.

She charged the children to make good use of the books to better their lot, while expressing optimism that with God helping the group, it intend to expand the gesture to accommodate more children and schools annually.

One of the beneficiaries, Master Godswill John, thanked the group for the items. He said the gifts are the best for Christmas with resumption of schools in weeks to come.

Godswill pledged to make good use of the items adding that the book will help him especially in mathematics with the multiplication table on the back cover while praying for God's blessings upon the members of the Forum.

Miss Belinda Ukam, on her part, hinted that the Party afforded her the opportunity of familiarizing with children of other schools and nationality.

She revealed that she would be happy to have the party take place bi-monthly so she would have more items and also get to know more people.

The event which took place at the Dome, Calabar Municipal Council, climaxed with dancing, swimming, arcade games, among others.
