Calas Vegas Hosts Victory Party, Dedicates Success To Teamwork

Leader of Class Vegas Band, winners of the 2024 Carnival Calabar,Chief Edem Duke has attributed the victory of the group to teamwork, ingenuity, committement and effective management of available personnels.
Duke spoke in Calabar during a get -together to celebrate the back to back victory of the band, having won the 2023 edition of the Carnival despite its status as one of the newest competing band in the Carnival.
According to the former the Culture and Tourism Minister“There’s no secret to our success “other than committing ourselves to the very best in creativity, the optimal utilization of personnel, and the proper interpretation of our theme.
"We focused on harnessing the inherent talents within our band to ensure we stood out among equals.”
Chief Duke expressed delight over the innovative concepts introduced into the Carnival as reflected in increased international attention and media exposure.
“The carnival has grown significantly, and this year set a new benchmark. All bands went above and beyond, spending resources beyond their grants to ensure a spectacular show.”
On the way forward, Chief Edem suggested earlier planning and broader stakeholder engagement to elevate the carnival further.
“We need more extensive marketing and to build on the innovations from this year, such as the Ikom and Ogoja Carnivals, as well as the junior carnival and the king and queens competition.”
On the future of Calas Vegas, he opined" Calas Vegas prides itself one being led by one of Africa's foremost performing artists, coupled with a strong background in communication and marketing."
“Our band’s strength lies in the willingness of our young members to be guided, choreographed, and to embody the spirit of the season.”
He revealed plans to establish Calas Vegas’ presence in the central and northern senatorial districts. “This will not only ensure representation in those areas but also draw talents into the main carnival. It’s about fostering a sense of inclusion and participation across the state.”
"Additionally, Calas Vegas is exploring avenues for economic growth through micro-enterprises and educational sponsorships for its members.
“We’re engaging our members in various economic activities and supporting their educational pursuits to further empower them.”
The Victory Party was seen as a testament to the collaborative spirit and artistic excellence that define the Calabar Carnival, with Calas Vegas poised to continue setting new standards in the years to come.
